Educators from all education sectors in Ghana and educators from 14 additional countries from across four continents participated in a powerful professional learning experience.

Reimagining Education for the Future We Seek: Africa and the World in Dialogue.

As an organisation committed to “advancing excellence in learning, teaching, and leading” in Ghana, Ghana ASCD recently organised a first-of-its-kind international educators’ summit in Accra, Ghana with the purpose of “Reimagining Education for the Future We Seek: Africa and the World in Dialogue.”

From 5-7 July 2024, educators from all education sectors in Ghana and educators from 14 additional countries from across four continents participated in a powerful professional learning experience. In addition, 250 selected secondary headmasters and aspiring headmasters participated in the post-summit leadership masterclass on Monday July 8, 2024.

Hello, fantastic educators and lifelong learners! Gather ’round as we dive into the vibrant experience that was the International Educators Summit, affectionately known as IES. Held right here in the heart of Ghana, this year’s summit was not just an event; it was a vibrant tapestry of ideas, innovations, and interactions woven together by educators from around the globe. Let’s reflect on the magic we created together.

The Planning Odyssey

Planning an event of this magnitude is no small feat. It all started with our deep commitment to creating a space where educators could come together to share, learn, and grow. Our dedicated team at ASCD Ghana, alongside our Executive Director Dr. Charles Yeboah and our two amazing team leads, Dr. Jill Harrison Berg and Dr. Laureen Adams, worked tirelessly to ensure every detail was perfect. From curating an impressive lineup of speakers to organizing interactive panels and breakout sessions, every aspect was meticulously planned to enhance your experience.

Technology in Education: Exploring the latest technological advancements and their integration into teaching and learning.
Teaching Students to Be Powerful Learners: Fostering skills and strategies that empower students to take charge of their own learning and become independent thinkers.
Leadership for the Future: Developing leadership skills and strategies to guide educational institutions towards a successful and adaptive future.

These strands ensured that there was something valuable for every educator, regardless of their specialization or interest.

Our speakers were phenomenal, featuring Zaretta Hammond, Patrick Awuah, Richard Culatta, and Kwame Simmons, among other thought leaders. They tackled crucial topics like integrating technology in education, aligning education with workforce needs, and emphasizing transformative leadership and educator wellness.

Interactive Panels and Breakout Sessions with over 90 presenters from all over the world

The interactive panels and breakout sessions were where the real magic happened. Educators engaged in hands-on activities, collaborative problem-solving, and deep discussions. These sessions were designed to be not just informative but transformative, equipping attendees with new skills and perspectives to bring back to their classrooms.
