Leading Powerful Learning Communities
Are you a:
- PD Leader?
- PLC Facilitator?
- Classroom Teacher?
- Lifelong Learner?
If so, you are invited to join a community of GhanaASCD members committed to supporting each other’s success as powerful learning community leaders!
We will form our own professional learning community (PLC) and meet monthly to help each other strengthen our skills for creating learning environments in which learners –whether adults or children– can feel safe, lean into learning, and put new learning to use.
The purpose of this PLC is twofold: building capacity and building community. By participating in the PLC, you will strengthen your capacity to have a powerful impact on the profession (as an effective PD leader), on your school (as an effective PLC facilitator), and/or on your students (as an effective teacher). Secondly, you will expand your network to include a professional community of educators committed to powerful teaching and learning, and form bonds that provide both support and accountability to help you be your best.
How does it work?
Each 75-min session will feature modelling of effective PLC facilitation moves. After setting up the requirements for a strong instructional core (relationships, relevance and rigor), we will address the monthly theme with a review of relevant research and modelling of essential strategies, then move into breakout rooms where participants will be able to try the approaches themselves and reflect upon the experience. We will come together at the end to share insights, troubleshoot potential obstacles and identify commitments to try before our next session.
Participants should plan to join via a laptop or tablet, not a phone, and to be on camera in order to engage fully and build relationships during this experience.
